Fans of Christopher Nolan can instantly identify the movie name from this line!
Yes inspired from the latest hit “Inception”, we thought why don’t we see other impressive movies from him? This guy has made some really great movies so far. Very few directors will have all success stories like him so far.
So “Memento” it was in Movie of the Month at Digicorp!
Memento - Movie a Month at Digicorp
Only die hard movie fans stayed to see this movie and in the end everyone was wondering what just happened!!
Yeah you will have to see it to believe it.
This movie has some serious brains working behind it. It is intriguing till the end.
Next time we need some very light comedy movie to come out of the “Memento” loop
It was the last Saturday of the month and the day to watch a movie together for Digicorp.
Digicorp Microblog was humming with activities from the morning for the selection of movie. I have to admit, last Saturday of month is a day when our Microblog is most active. I don’t have any issues with that. People will learn to share things that way.
Finally we decided on “The Italian Job” vs “Rush Hour” but unfortunately could not get “The Italian Job” DVD from the market and rented “Catch Me If You Can” instead.
For those of you, who have not watched a movie, it is a must watch and based on a true story of a confidence man named “Frank William Abagnale Jr.“.
Movie of the Month at Digicorp
Here is brief description of the movie taken from its wikipedia page.
“Catch Me If You Can is a 2002 American crime film based on the life of Frank Abagnale Jr., who, before his 19th birthday, successfully conned millions of dollars by posing as a Pan American World Airways pilot, a Georgia doctor and Louisiana attorney and parish prosecutor.”
Not to mention we all were amazed by the skills of Mr Abagnale and wished we could have such confidence too . Don’t forget to see Wikipedia page entry of him, you will be even more surprised.
How do you rate this movie? Another master piece from Spielberg?
I have to accept that like all other companies we also start something and then for some weird reason discontinue it. “Movie of the Month” event at Digicorp is no exception.
This is one of the best event in terms enjoyment and requires almost no preparation time and yet for some weird reason we did not do it for six months!
Well I am the one responsible for it and I will make sure it does not happen again without any seeming reason.
So after discussing long list movies on Digicorp Microblog such as:
1) Pursuit of Happiness
2) The Terminal
3) Vertical Limit
4) Vantage Point
5) Hangover
6) Peral Harbor
7) Surrogates
8 ) 2012
We decided on “Meet The Parents” as it is light weight, funny comedy which everyone can enjoy. We don’t want to go home with the heavy heart or action filled mind over the weekend right?
Some of the scenes from this movie has been copied by bollywood hit “Mujse Shaadi Karogi” and we were little upset to see that but anyways that was a good movie too! (all because of wick kid sunny!)
Overall it was a good show and I am sure everyone enjoyed it.
Have you seen “Meet The Parents”? What’s your take on it?
Rangoli is one of the most popular art forms in India. It is a form of sandpainting decoration that uses finely ground white powder and colours, and is used commonly outside homes in India.
The term rangoli is derived from words rang (colour) and aavalli (‘coloured creepers’ or ‘row of colours’).
We wanted to have some fun before the Diwali holidays and we did just that in this competition. There were 16 teams consisting of 4-5 persons and almost all teams having one female participant who leads the team.
The theme given for Rangoli was “Shades of Life” and few teams came up with some brilliant stuff. They were given choice of six colors which they were supposed to use in Rangoli.
The tempo started building up from the morning and people started looking at Google for the solution (as expected!). Many came up with the original design also and congratulations to all of them.
To cut the long story short check out some of the Rangolis people came up with.
Here is the slideshow of all the photographs with description in some of them. Don’t forget to check them out.
Do let us know your comments about this wonderful event. Can’t wait to have it next year.
This Saturday we saw “The Pink Panther II” and believe me it was hilarious. (Especially when you see it for the second time )
Movie of the month at Digicorp - The Pink Panther II
Steve Martin is one gem of an actor and Aishwarya Rai is one beautiful actress.
My favorite scene of the movie:
Andy Garica: Vicenzo Roccara Squarcialupi Brancaleone (introducing himself by saying his full name in Italian)
Steve Martin (at the next second): and your name?
ha ha ha….
It was a pleasant end of the month because of the movie and I am already thinking about the next month’s movie. This is becoming addiction for me it seems!
I hope all the Digicorpians are loving it too!
Please share your experience by leaving comments! Sharing is fun
We have 2 Steve Martin movies out of 3 now! Yes I am big fan of him. (We have to see Cheaper by the Dozen – II and The Pink Panther – II now)
Everybody enjoyed the movie to the fullest and I am already looking forward to the next movie of the month. I am sure everyone agrees!
In fact we have already started getting suggestion for the next movie. One is “CRASH” and other is “Resident Evil – III”. Thanks for the suggestions Aditya and Nachiket. Keep them coming.
Apology for not updating for soo long…recently we have done 2 exciting events at Digicorp one of which is explained here…
29th of September 2008 and the day has come. I was waiting for this day very eagerly as I had read lot about team building and other motivational stuff lately.
Payal and I had worked hard to find out proper games for which will suit our company and its people.
We shortlisted following games:
1) Do you know me? (15 to 25 mins) - make groups of 12 people - make them tightly coupled with each other - ask them to introduce themselves and - A proud moment in your work or personal life, - Something most people do not know about you, - Interviewer’s choice of any question. • What is your favourite season? • What colour are your eyes? • What’s your shoe size? • What type of shoes are your wearing? • What’s your favourite colour • What’s your star sign? • Which leg do you put into your pants first? • Which eye do you prefer to wink with? • Which side of the bed (left or right) do you get out of in the morning?
2) Do you know what I mean? (20 mins) Have a volunteer hold a sheet you have created with different shapes drawn on it. With their back to the group, the volunteer describes the shapes on the paper; everyone else tries to draw the same design based on only the verbal instruction of the volunteer.
How it helps: The group’s pictures will not be exactly the same as the original and some will be really far off. Everyone will be reminded of the importance of communication.
3) All Aboard (15 mins) -This activity requires working together in close physical proximity in order to solve a practical, physical problem. It tends to emphasize group communication, cooperation, patience and problem solving strategy, as well as issues related to physical self and physical proximity. - The activity can be run in many different ways. - Basic method: Ask the whole group to try to fit inside a small area which can be marked by:
* small platforms, or * circle of rope, or * tarpaulin or blanket
4) Do you trust your team members? Ask one person to free fall on his back trusting that his/her team members will catch him. Same teams can be used as previous events. It will improve the trust levels between team members.
5) Evening Dress (20 mins) The instructor asks 2 pairs to take part in this game. He/she suggests their making the evening dress, using only newspapers, pins and scissors. The winner is chosen by the spectators.
We could not do game 4 as time was running out but had lots and lots of fun in all other activities. Especially in All Aboard and Evening Dress.
Looking at people getting on top of each other in All aboard was once in a lifetime moment
I have embedded album of the whole event below. Have a look at them and you will get the idea of fun we had
This line used to remind us of OSO or Deepika but now we have one more reason to remember it- our AdMad show.
I must say it was totally Mad Ad shows. We were totally on ground with those hilarious ads that were presented.
The fun of the event started when we ( Payal & I) decided the products. Well! well! well! it was difficult and funny equally.
Then we thought of giving the teams the product but the not the members. I know we played really cruel. But then this increased the curiosity and hard work.
We divided the whole lot into 11 teams( 1 team of our directors didn’t participate due to lack of resources). The team leaders( Avadhesh, Vikas, Paresha, Rohit D,Vishal, Pranav, Suraj, Darshana, Ankit and Venkat) were asked to pick up chits of products from our bowl. So it was mere luck with what they land up to.
We gave the leaders their teams , only two day prior to the event. Now thats called fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They had to prepare everything from concept to dialogue, from costumes to props in just 2 days and work their official targets out also along with this. They had no leaves.
But hats off to their unity, they worked really hard and were ready with every thing on the day. The ads had all variety of spices from Babubhai to Munnabhai, from Road romeos to Jaga don and from Africans tribal to Egyptian mummies and king . And how can i forget the MMS (Manmohan Singh ) , Mushi( Gen Musharraf) and Zuntal (Kuntal) . The ads were all full of surprise. The audiences and judges were wondering as what comes up next.
We (I and Payal) had tough time marking them for their efforts. We had marked them on the scale of 10 for Creativity, Presentation, Team effort & endorsing.
Must say everyone had endorsed their products very well. But winner was the best of the bests.
Finally Rohit’s team won everyones heart and the first prize with their Sanskar-The Rock Band’s act which included Himesh and Ek chutki Sindur. Apart from this the products that our teams endorsed were: Dr. Killer’s Dhoop, Durian Pocket Bed,
But truly, the experience was awesome with some great memorable characters of the show going down the memory lane like the Zingala la hu act, Babu bhais performance, Supriya entire look and performance( she looked like those 60s -70s beautiful actresses), Reporter from Raat Tak and Jaga don.
Everyone was just too good!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers to the spirit of the Digicorp people!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking forward for some great performance for the next upcoming event at the end of this month. Am very sorry but the videos of this awesome show are facing some trouble in uploading. I will upload them at earliest.
Hello All, So as expected we are here with the review of our latest event “Business Plan Competition”. All in all it was really a great attempt from all of the participants. They all have really tight schedule here in DIGICorp and still they were able to prepare for the event which is an achievement in itself . I will describe the ideas and teams one by one here.
1) Asmita and Team (www.rougsr.com)
Idea: Social Networking Portal (not a website) with Google Earth integrated.
The idea really fascinated me as even though I read too many startup reporting blogs everyday for example Techcrunch, GigaOm etc I never came across similar concept. They were proposing to have Google Earth in the center of Social Networking. So people can find their friends and relatives based on locations from google earth. They wanted to have RSS feeds of various news and other sites to be integrated in their portal so that users just don’t leave their website .
There were some glitches here and there about the revenue and business model but they could have done it much better if had given some more time. This is my personal best from the competition.
2) Supriya and Team (Domestic Helpp)
Idea: Run a professional company dealing in providing Domestic Help to people of Ahmedabad.
They planned to have a company which can provide maids, cooks and babysitters to middle class, upper middle class and rich class of the society especially where Husband and Wife both are working. This is quite workable because even though labor is cheap here you don’t get them easily. By professionalizing it they can serve the needs of society very well. They followed the structure in presenting their idea and presented it quite well.
Again still there were some glitches in recruitment part of the resources in presentation but they managed to come out as a winner . Congratulations to them and their prize is waiting for them today.
3) Nitin and Team (Evalueserve)
Idea: to build a KPO which can serve needs of 2D animations, business presentations etc of todays’ world.
I can describe this team in one word “Confidence”. They were presenting as if they are already doing a business. Although I did not agree with them in many of their points they did it really good to entertain the crowd. They plan to provide knowledge based services in the field of animation and other services to the world. They were thinking of this idea for the last 2 years and they had presentation which said “2005″ in the footer. (ha ha ha)
They were the runners up. Congratulations to all of them for their great effort.
4) Aalap and Team (Biofuel)
Idea: To produce biofuel with the help of Jatropha plantations.
Hot upcoming business in this part of the world at least. They showed quite a character to start the presentation. But one mistake they did was by not following the structure. They had good knowledge of Jatropha plantations and biofuel etc but were not clear on how much plantations they need to run a successful business. There were also questions on their returns at the end of presentation but I think there was something missing in showing the returns because as far as I know Jatropha do provide high return on investment (at least at this moment)
5) Hiral Shah and Team (Telephonic Products)
Idea: To come up with various value added services for the Mobile market.
They planned to have online recharge facility of all the service providers at one place. They planned to provide Bulk SMSing software and customization for the corporate need. They planned to have various customization for the EPBX system. All in all they presented it well and with confidence but again revenue model was not clear. Their financial document was missing and Rekha handled it really well. Congratulations to her.
6) Mitul and Team (Isabgul)
Idea: Export an age old herbal medicine called “Isabgul” used for mainly digestive purpose.
We all know the good things about Isabgul and the effects it can have but we did not know that export of Isabgul is HUGE. This team showed us just that and the figures were quite impressive. But again when you enter such a crowded place you need to have something different in your sleeves. They lacked just that and a proper business model. Presentation was quite bulky so they just had to skip few slides which is not a good practice. This was a business plan requiring good amount of investment. Congratulations to all of them for thinking big.
So do let us know how did you find this competition and your thoughts about the ideas presented. Looking forward to your comments.
