Hello All, So as expected we are here with the review of our latest event “Business Plan Competition”. All in all it was really a great attempt from all of the participants. They all have really tight schedule here in DIGICorp and still they were able to prepare for the event which is an achievement in itself . I will describe the ideas and teams one by one here.
1) Asmita and Team (www.rougsr.com)
Idea: Social Networking Portal (not a website) with Google Earth integrated.
The idea really fascinated me as even though I read too many startup reporting blogs everyday for example Techcrunch, GigaOm etc I never came across similar concept. They were proposing to have Google Earth in the center of Social Networking. So people can find their friends and relatives based on locations from google earth. They wanted to have RSS feeds of various news and other sites to be integrated in their portal so that users just don’t leave their website .
There were some glitches here and there about the revenue and business model but they could have done it much better if had given some more time. This is my personal best from the competition.
2) Supriya and Team (Domestic Helpp)
Idea: Run a professional company dealing in providing Domestic Help to people of Ahmedabad.
They planned to have a company which can provide maids, cooks and babysitters to middle class, upper middle class and rich class of the society especially where Husband and Wife both are working. This is quite workable because even though labor is cheap here you don’t get them easily. By professionalizing it they can serve the needs of society very well. They followed the structure in presenting their idea and presented it quite well.
Again still there were some glitches in recruitment part of the resources in presentation but they managed to come out as a winner . Congratulations to them and their prize is waiting for them today.
3) Nitin and Team (Evalueserve)
Idea: to build a KPO which can serve needs of 2D animations, business presentations etc of todays’ world.
I can describe this team in one word “Confidence”. They were presenting as if they are already doing a business. Although I did not agree with them in many of their points they did it really good to entertain the crowd. They plan to provide knowledge based services in the field of animation and other services to the world. They were thinking of this idea for the last 2 years and they had presentation which said “2005″ in the footer. (ha ha ha)
They were the runners up. Congratulations to all of them for their great effort.
4) Aalap and Team (Biofuel)
Idea: To produce biofuel with the help of Jatropha plantations.
Hot upcoming business in this part of the world at least. They showed quite a character to start the presentation. But one mistake they did was by not following the structure. They had good knowledge of Jatropha plantations and biofuel etc but were not clear on how much plantations they need to run a successful business. There were also questions on their returns at the end of presentation but I think there was something missing in showing the returns because as far as I know Jatropha do provide high return on investment (at least at this moment)
5) Hiral Shah and Team (Telephonic Products)
Idea: To come up with various value added services for the Mobile market.
They planned to have online recharge facility of all the service providers at one place. They planned to provide Bulk SMSing software and customization for the corporate need. They planned to have various customization for the EPBX system. All in all they presented it well and with confidence but again revenue model was not clear. Their financial document was missing and Rekha handled it really well. Congratulations to her.
6) Mitul and Team (Isabgul)
Idea: Export an age old herbal medicine called “Isabgul” used for mainly digestive purpose.
We all know the good things about Isabgul and the effects it can have but we did not know that export of Isabgul is HUGE. This team showed us just that and the figures were quite impressive. But again when you enter such a crowded place you need to have something different in your sleeves. They lacked just that and a proper business model. Presentation was quite bulky so they just had to skip few slides which is not a good practice. This was a business plan requiring good amount of investment. Congratulations to all of them for thinking big.
So do let us know how did you find this competition and your thoughts about the ideas presented. Looking forward to your comments.
Hey Guys and Gals, Payal has forgotten to post about this event on blog so I am doing it on her behalf.
This time we are having Business Plan Competition as our monthly event. Teams have to come up with their own business idea which can be from any field. And they have to prepare business plan for the same.
The main purpose of the business should be to make money. Teams have to prepare Executive Summary, Business Plan in word document. They also have to prepare presentation and make a pitch before the Judges.
We have divided the all the boys in 4 teams and all the girls in 3 teams. So it is Boys vs Girls this time.
Lets see who has more aptitude for business.
Competition is on Friday so there is not much time left now.
This time we will have zara hatke competition called the “Model Making” competition. The details & the material needed to develop the model will be given on the spot.
So no clubbings, no extra exertion, totally “On the spot” kinda competition to make it hassle-free.
Its really late to write about this. The main thing was i came down in the morning and i had a mail from nachiket to upload the videos of “gobar sabun”.
I uploaded all the videos for the same purpose. It was real fun in that afternoon in ad mad show.
Check out following all the advertises prepared by our qualified it professional. I watched them all and i still laugh a lot when i see Rajesh moving in circle in the Chirag Saree ad. Check all of them out.
Hello DIGICORP, Its high time to write a post bout the rocking dancing competition that we had on 30th June 2007. Where should I start!!! OK Here it goes…. It was in the weekly meeting of the team leaders that the thought of organising a dance competition as a monthly event came to their mind (Weird Ain’t it is!!!). Nobody was aware that this weird thought would turn into a reality show. However it did….. I always felt that DIGICORP believes in dynamism, but the employees of DIGICORP proved it as well. Employees were divided into six teams, each team being leaded by a girl (Too Smart!!! Girls can make anyone dance….What say???). Watch out our leaders. Don’t they look too strict )) The Team Leaders
I was dying to watch the teams practising, however the days were passing by but no one took the initiative….Then came the role of HR into the picture. She called everyone up for an urgent meeting without disclosing the agenda. I dont know what she did, but at the end of the meeting I saw DIGICORP hipping and hopping to finalize the songs as well as making plans on how to progress.
Look at some of the rocking and even entertaining practices. They would yell at me if disclose their steps to other teams. Look at some of the practice sessions.

Dynamism was visible here when ppl used to work for long hours and after the office hours started practising to compete. It was fun watching the s/w developers giving all that they could to dance. It was a DO-OR-DIE effort. Ppl were finding it difficult to manage, but hats-off to their enthusiasm & optimism that kept them up. And altogether a different scene at DIGICORP, employees who used to come early and work late nights did the same but this time for dancing. So apart from the office hours, DIGICORP was no longer turned into a dance floor for a couple of days. It wasnt that easy for them to dance, but the team spirits & the energy levels were so high that the team members after consuming COMBIFLAMS & GLUCON-D and other energy savers kept moving themselves on the rocking dance numbers. And the wait ends here, it was 30th of june. DIGICORP as a whole, got together to find Kismey Kitna Hai Dum.
Let me write down about the teams. The 6 teams were as following. 1. JBJ (Jhoom Barabar Jhoom): Mamta(The Leader), Nilesh, Hitesh, Ankita, Vivek and Nimish. Watch them performing.
2.Salame-Dhum: Foram(The Leader), Hiral, Prashant, and Kuldip. Watch them performing.
3. Dance-Masti: Komal(The Leader), Kajal, Rohit, Sanjay and Kunjan. (this team had the least time to do the practice and they were yet able to put on a great show.) Watch them performing.
4. Flamboyant: Payal(The Leader), Abhishek, Nachiket, Sanket and Kuntal. Watch them performing.
5. Jhankaar: Hiral(The Leader), Dharmraj, Niraj and Siddharth. (They did the maximum practice and they were very energetic.) Watch them performing.
6. V-5: Supriya(The Leader), Jigna, Hiren (The dude look), Milan and Mitul (They really put on a good show and their theme was also excellent. At the time of results i was much worried about them as they were the real competitors. Watch them performing.
But in the end we(Flamboyants) won by putting up a great show. Thanks to our choreographer (Purval) and our hard practicing efforts (but according to me we did the least practice).
HOWEVER, WE JUSTIFIED “ALL THAT ENDS WELL IS ALL WELL".
And Really End was great…. Check out below the great show put up by our little Hritik…
Lastly I would like to thank the DIGICORP team. Please dont forget to Post your experiences on the blog. Most importantly i would like to know how the first time dancers found it.
Its time to write about the next monthly activity for month of May 2007. All were waiting for the activity.
This time we planned for group discussion in which we divided the company in 4 teams each having strength around 7 – 8 persons. They were given topics in advance. And we created 2 groups so it was kind of semi final first. Whichever teams win will be going to the finals.
Then in the final the topic will be given at that point of time only and they will be given 20 minutes to prepared for the discussion and then we will have the final round.
It was fun at the event. Mamta’s team performed well and they won.
The topics for semifinal rounds were.
1. Love Marriage vs. Arrange Marriage In this both the teams (Mamta and Siddhartha’s team supported arrange marriage and no one supported love marriage. But mamta’s team was more convincing so they went through it.
2. Is woman’s place in house? Here also both the teams supported having a working woman but the discussion was a bit confusing and in the end it also became aggressive also. In the end Unnati’s team won by a narrow margin.
In the topic was “India Towards Westernization / Modernization “. And here Mamta’s team won.
